Insurance Procedures

INSURANCE

The following insurance coverages must be obtained in order to carry out an Erasmus internship activity abroad:

Health Insurance Coverage

The higher education institution is obliged to inform the student that they must have health insurance. Some Consulates require Travel-Health Insurance during the visa application process. Before applying for a visa, ensure that this insurance covers the entire internship period with a minimum coverage of €30,000.00.

Liability Insurance Coverage

(Insurance coverage for damages that may be caused by the student to the workplace)

The higher education institution is responsible for ensuring that the student has obtained liability insurance. The Learning Agreement for Traineeship (Training Agreement) contains information on whether this insurance is provided by the host enterprise. If the host enterprise is not required to provide such insurance under the national legislation of the host country, they cannot be forced to do so. If Liability Insurance is not provided by the host enterprise, the student must obtain the insurance themselves.

Accident Insurance Coverage

(Insurance coverage for accidents that the student may suffer at the workplace)

The higher education institution is responsible for ensuring that the student has obtained accident insurance. The Learning Agreement for Traineeship (Training Agreement) contains information on whether this insurance is provided by the host enterprise. If the host enterprise is not required to provide such insurance under the national legislation of the host country, they cannot be forced to do so. If Accident Insurance is not provided by the host enterprise, the student must obtain the insurance themselves.
